Alfred Louis “Man” Powell

Alfred Louis “Man” Powell, age 84, of Crockett passed away Friday, December 22, 2017 in True Care Living Centers, Palestine. Man was born January 12, 1933 in Leon County to parents, Jim Powell and Millie Wilkins Powell.   He worked for many years and retired from the furniture plant in Crockett then went back to work at the Texas Highway Department, working until retiring again.  Man was known for his garden on Park Street where he put in many hours keeping it weeded and producing lots of vegetables.  He  was a member of Pennington Baptist Church. Man is survived by daughters, Kathy Sanders of Palestine; Donna Kay Wright and husband, Robert of Huntsville; granddaughters, Kristy Pendergraft and husband, Bill of Crockett, Jennifer Wright Jones and husband, Jeremy of Crockett, Ashley Wright Jones and husband, James of Huntsville, Michelle Wright of Huntsville; great-grandchildren, Dakota Pendergraft, Cheyenne Pendergraft, Alyssa Jones, Sophie Jones, Zoee Jones, Lillien Roberson, Sabrina Jones, Brianna Jones, Elayna Wright; brothers, Elmer Powell of Crockett, Jimmy Powell and wife, Brenda of Trinity; sisters, Sue Kendrick of Crockett and Pat Hallmark; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by wife, Jensie Lorene Powell in 2013; parents, Jim and Millie Powell; granddaughter, Lisa Marie Sanders; son-in-law, Sam Sanders; sisters, Mary Seale Tullos, Annie Black.

Funeral services for Alfred Louis “Man” Powell were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2017 in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with Dr. Reggie Gregory officiating.
