WEEKLY BIBLE COMMENTARY by Wes Woodard: Genesis 18

Genesis 18 – “The Destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah”

Why did God destroy these two cities? It was because homosexuality was the way of life for the men of these cities.  This was an evil lifestyle to God and still is! There were not even ten righteous men in these places! Verse 16 is worth noting, “But Lot hesitated! So the angels seized his hand and the hand of his wife and two daughters and brought them outside…”  “Then the Lord rained on Sodom and Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the Lord out of Heaven! And, He overthrew those cities, and all the valley and all the inhabitants of those cities!”  Total annihilation! When I entered Texas A&M College in the Fall of 1957 and then graduated in the Spring of 1961, the Corps of Cadets was compulsory for two years. The law at that time was that no cadet (fish through seniors), could lock their room. This was to prevent homosexuality. At that time there were no females enrolled. This was a good law, and it worked.
