Genesis 15:6 – “The Most Important Verse in the O.T.”

In this chapter the Lord tells Abram that his reward (for following the Lord) will be great.  This puzzles Abram and he tells the Lord, “How can this be possible since I have no male heir. In fact, one of my servants, Eliezer of Damascus, is to inherit all I possess!”  The Lord then tells him that his man will not be his heir. No, one born from himself will be the heir.

Then the Lord told him to look up at the stars and try to count them.  “So shall your descendants be, and Abram believed in the Lord and He reckoned it to him for righteousness.”  (NASV)  Salvation has always been by faith, not good works.

The focus here is on the Father. Gradually this focus would shift to the second person of the Trinity, Jesus of Nazareth.  Have you placed your faith (trust) in what Jesus did for all mankind to be sufficient to pay for your sins? If you haven’t, do it right now. Just call out to Jesus and say, “Lord save me today. I do not wish to go to Hell. Come into my heart right now.”
