WM Robert James “Bill” Swindle

Funeral services for WM Robert James “Bill” Swindle, 74, of Kennard, were held Saturday, September 9, 2017, at 2 p.m. at the Center Hill United Methodist Church in Kennard with Rev. Michael Harris officiating. Interment followed at the Corinth Cemetery.

Mr. Swindle was born February 10, 1943 in Ederney Irvinestown, Northern Ireland, the son of the late WM Robert Swindle and Jennie Phillips Swindle, and died Friday, September 8, 2017 at his residence.

He loved mules, wagons, and horses. He also loved to trail ride and was John Wayne’s biggest fan.

Mr. Swindle is survived by his son, Allen Swindle of Michigan; daughter, Angela Swindle Carr of Michigan; granddaughter, Kandace Hope Carr of Michigan; grandson, Dakota “Koty” Carr of Michigan; great-grandson on the way, “Max” of Michigan; grandson, Daniel Gates; grandson and wife, Jordon and Ashley Gates; granddaughter and husband, Ashley and Ronnie Cole; grandson and wife, Michael and Whitney Burran; grandson and wife, Cory and Kaylee Burran, all of Kennard; great-grandchildren, Braydon Gates, Halli Hunt, Keyton Lumbreraz, Karissa Lumbreraz, Tori Cole, Whitney Cole, Trey Cole, Cade Burran, Aubrey Burran, and Josie Kate Burran, all of Kennard; and great-great-grandson, Drake Cole of Kennard; step-son, Virgil Gates of Kennard; step-daughter and husband, Debbie and Mike Burran of Kennard; and sisters, Betty Dumcam, Sylvia Noble, Edna Morrow, and Olive Corier, all of Northern Ireland.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Doris Swindle; brother, John Swindle; and step-son, Glynn Gates.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Gates, Jordon Gates, Michael Burran, Cory Burran, Ronnie Cole, and Myles Burran.

Honorary pallbearers were be the Trail Riders from Grapeland.

Visitation was held from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, September 9, 2017 at the Center Hill United Methodist Church, before the funeral service.

Arrangements were under the direction of Shafer Funeral Home.
