John A. Ermel

John A. Ermel was born December 9, 1934 to John C. and Willie Bell Ermel in Houston, Texas.  He lived in Aldine, where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Geneva Ann Alewine.  There they raised two daughters.  After their retirement, they moved to Kennard, Texas in 2000.  John and his wife became active members of the Kennard First Baptist Church until his health began to fail.  John went to his permanent home with his Lord and Savior on June 27, 2017 surrounded by his family.

John was welcomed home on June 27, 2017 by his parents, his sister and her husband, Martha Jane and Pete Burrisk, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Harmon and Ethel Alewine.  John will be missed dearly by his wife, Geneva Ermel of nearly 63 years, his children, Christy and Patrick Villa, Debie Ermel Risz, his grandchildren, Ryan and Rachel Rivera, Aimee and Justin LeBlanc, Tosha and Corey Combs, Erin and Charlie Donaldson, Chrystal and Jesus Torrecillas, and great-grandchildren, Kealey, Danielle, Heather, Jordan, Sarah, Hailey, Raven, Katelyn, Caleb, Jacob, Gabriela, Cassandra, Victoria, Chloe, Luke, Christian, Brian, Adam and Raeanna, along with numerous other relatives and special friends.

Funeral services were held Thursday, June 29, 2017 at 10 a.m. in the Kennard First Baptist Church.  Graveside services were at 3 p.m. at Earthman Resthaven in Houston.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
