HORACE MCQUEEN: How Now, Brown Cow!

Where does the beef in hamburgers come from? And does chocolate milk come from brown cows? Recent studies show an appalling lack of knowledge about the food we eat. Result is that our school kids, and lots of adults, have no understanding of what is going on around them. Over sixteen million milk-drinkers credit chocolate milk as coming from brown cows. One in five adults had no idea that the hamburger patty is made of beef — or that beef comes from cows. In California more than half the students in grades four through six didn’t know that pickles are made from cucumbers — or that onions and lettuce are plants.

Let’s work on ways to get more kids, especially in the big cities, to the country and let them see growing crops and livestock. Walk them through a dairy barn and let them watch cows being milked — brown ones, too.

Good old Hillary Clinton is at it again. She can’t digest the fact that she lost the Presidential election to Donald Trump.  Now she is comparing herself to “Wonder Woman,” that courageous and fictional super- heroine star of a new movie. Clinton said she and “Wonder Woman” are both “on a quest to save the world.”  She added, “Something tells me that a movie about a strong, powerful woman fighting to save the world from a massive international disaster is right up my alley.” Hillary, quit the moaning and blaming everyone else for your defeat. You missed your big moment — and your train has already passed through the station!

Talking too much often leads to trouble. After eating a whole bull, a mountain lion felt so good he starting roaring. He kept it up until a hunter came along and shot him. Moral of this story  — when you are full of bull, keep your mouth shut!
