CROCKETT – Before the Juneteenth Parade and Celebration, officers with the Crockett Police Department were dispatched to the 1100 block of Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard in reference to a report of gunshots.

According to a press release from Lt. Clayton Smith, when the CPD officers arrived at the scene they were informed an altercation between two men had escalated to the point where one of the individuals involved pulled out a handgun and began to shoot at the other person involved in the altercation.

“During the investigation it was determined that Tyrell Dshawn Beasley, 27,  pulled a handgun and fired at the victim in this case as he chased him in between multiple houses. During the incident, a residence was struck several times with projectiles from the gun,” the media release indicated.

Smith stated the victim escaped with only minor scratches as he fled the scene and contacted the police department shortly after the incident occurred.

“Multiple witnesses have identified Beasley as the shooter and the Crockett Police Department has issued two felony warrants on Beasley charging him with the following: Aggravated Assault w Deadly Weapon- Criminal Attempt (a second degree felony) and deadly conduct (a third degree felony).
