Grapeland Lions Host 26th Annual Golf Tournament

ELKHART – The Grapeland Noon Lions Club hosted its 26th Annual Golf Tournament on Saturday, June 3 and despite a brief mid-morning shower, the tournament field was one of the largest, if not the largest, hosted by the club.

According to Lions Club President Ben Childress there were over 20 teams competing in the four-man scramble format.

Childress expressed his appreciation to all the local businesses and individuals who helped sponsor the event along with the Elkhart Golf Club, where the event was held.

The Lions Club would also like to extend a special thank you to Cutshaw Chevrolet, Nucor –Vulcraft Group, Academy Sports and Outdoors, Hocheim Prairie Insurance, Golf Galaxy and Enbridge, for their help with the tournament and prizes.

The winning team in the Championship Flight was comprised of: Allen Cheatham; Brayden Cheatham; Rick Frauenberger; and James Irvin.

The winning team in the First Flight was comprised of: Clay Boyd, Chance Huff, Jerry Richards and Ty Richards.

The winning team in the second flight was comprised of: Matthew Bradshaw; T.J. McFarland; James Wells; and Mitchell Woody.
