CROCKETT – Three Crockett nursing and rehabilitation facilities provided smiles to more than 100 mothers and grandmothers across the county in honor of Mother’s Day through its annual May Flower Event Thursday.

Staff from Whitehall Rehab & Nursing, Winfield Nursing & Rehab and Community Care Center handed out 108 free hanging flower baskets filled with purple and pink petunias to women in the community who help out the nursing homes in various ways throughout the year.

“Some of the most wonderful mothers and grandmothers in the world live right here in our community. This Mother’s Day, take a moment to thank the great mothers in your life. If you’re a mother, give yourself a pat on the back and a well-deserved break. We want to say ‘thank you’ for everything you do,” said Julie Newton, Business Development Specialist for Whitehall Rehab & Nursing Center in Crockett. “People that work with us in the community, we wanted to do something nice for them for Mother’s Day.”

Among those receiving the baskets were the nursing home’s barbers and beauticians, as well as home health agencies, hospice agencies, Meals on Wheels, Crockett Resource Center for Independent Living, local media and the Crockett Area Chamber of Commerce.

Each facility will be holding special Mother’s Day festivities on Sunday.

“Our activity directors have special gifts, refreshments and music planned for our residents on Mother’s  Day,” Newton said.
