Jimmy Ray “Sonny” Turner

Jimmy Ray “Sonny” Turner, age 82, of Grapeland, Texas passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Winfield Nursing Center in Crockett, Texas.  Sonny was born February 21, 1935 in Houston County to parents, Lewis Turner and Libby Owens Turner. He was retired from the Grapeland Co-Op.  Mr. Turner was a member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church of Grapeland.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Libby Turner; sisters, Katie Weisinger, Sprucy Nuerenberg, Louise Starkey, and Sissy Vickers; brothers, Colquitt Skidmore, Roland Turner, and Bill Turner.

Sonny is survived by his sister, Marie Turner of Grapeland, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services for Jimmy Ray “Sonny” Turner were held Friday, April 7, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Refuge Cemetery in Grapeland, Texas with Will Yates officiating.   

Funeral arrangements were in care of Rhone Funeral Home, 3900 S. State Hwy 19, Palestine, Texas.
