CROCKETT – A Crockett man was arrested by the Crockett Police Department after responding to a domestic disturbance call on Wednesday, March 29.

Jarvis Tremain McCullough, 34, was charged with assault causing bodily injury to a family member.

Crockett PD officer Abel Aguirre was on patrol on Wednesday when he was dispatched to 403 Cedar St. at approximately 8:30 a.m. in reference to a domestic disturbance in progress.

“Upon my (Aguirre) arrival, I, along with other CPD officers, made contact with the complainant who was bleeding from her nose,” an affidavit of probable cause said.

Aguirre began questioning the victim regarding the domestic disturbance call.

“At first, (the victim) said that it was an accident and that she did not want anything to happen,” the probable cause document said. “(The victim) kept on stating it was an accident and that she fell.”

Aguirre then asked the victim about the injury to her nose, but the victim would not give any information, the affidavit said.

“I (Aguirre) asked (the victim) how she ended up with a bloody nose but she did not want to mention any names,” the probable cause document said.

Aguirre then turned his to the victim’s boyfriend McCollough.

“I (Aguirre) then spoke to (McCullough), who advised that he was just pushing (the victim) out of the way because (she) was in his face,” the affidavit said. “McCollough informed me (Aguirre) that he did not put (his) hands on her, but was just shoving her away.”

Aguirre then asked McCullough why the victim’s nose was bleeding from her nose, but McCullough claimed ignorance.

McCollough informed Aguirre that the victim had arrived at the house to pick up their child when an argument over monetary issues ensued between the two of them, according to the report.

“McCullough said (the victim) started the altercation when she hit him with a backpack,” the affidavit said, “and that is when (McCullough) ‘hit her’.”

Aguirre then spoke with the victim and McCullough’s child, who was located in the backseat of the victim’s car, the report stated.

“I (Aguirre) asked (the child) what (the child) had seen and (the child) said (the child’s) mom (the victim) went inside the house and that is when her ‘daddy started hitting my momma’,” the affidavit said.

McCullough was then placed under arrest and transported to the Houston County Jail.

The charge of assault causing bodily injury to a family member is considered a class A misdemeanor.

According to Section 12.21 of the Texas Penal Code,“An individual adjudged guilty of a Class A misdemeanor shall be punished by a fine not to exceed $4,000;confinement in jail for a term not to exceed one year; or both such fine and confinement.”
