By Will Johnson Messenger Reporter GRAPELAND – When the Grapeland ISD Board of Trustees convenes its monthly meeting scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 14 at 6:30 p.m., the school board members will be asked to consider giving their approval to a “District of Innovation” resolution. “Becoming a District of Innovation will give Grapeland ISD more local control and allows the district more flexibility to implement programs and procedures that best fit the needs of our students, staff, parents and community,” GISD Superintendent Gregg Spivey said when asked what that means for the district. It’s simple, if Grapeland wins on Friday they are the District 20-2A champs, regardless of the outcome of their regular season finale against the Groveton Indians on Valentine’s Day. As the game got underway on Tuesday, Grapeland raced...Read More

Katelin Holmes and Dea’Junique James both put up four points while Mercedes James accounted for the other two. Fortunately for the Lady Dawgs, the Lady Owls also had trouble getting off the ground and only managed to post seven...Read More
