Area Athletes Selected for TSWA All-State Honors

EAST TEXAS – The Texas Sports Writers Association All-State Teams, sponsored by Collin Street Bakery, have been released for the Class 2A and 3A levels with a strong presence from both Anderson and Houston Counties.

At the Class 2A level, Cayuga Wildcat defensive back Gevon

Williams was selected for First Team All-State honors.

The Wildcats’ Eric Freshour was selected for Honorable Mention All-State honors on the defensive line and was joined by teammate Tristan Davis on the Honorable Mention All-State team for his play in the defensive secondary.

Grapeland’s Rick Frauenberger was selected for Honorable Mention All-State honors at the quart

erback position while Lovelady’s Hunter Murray was selected to the Honorable Mention All-State team as a wide receiver.

 

Moving to the Class 3A level, Crockett Bulldog Ahmad Brown received First Team All-State honors for his play at linebacker.

Crockett Bulldog Lucky Daniels received All-State honors as a Third Team All-State defensive back along with All-State Honorable Mention honors as both an all-purpose player on offense and as a kick returner on defense.

Crockett’s Derrick Sherman also received Honorable Mention All-State honors for his play in the defensive backfield.

The Elkhart Elks were also represented on the All-State list as D.J. Williams was selected for Honorable Mention honors at the running back position.

Williams was joined by Elk teammate Jacob Walters who received Honorable Mention All-State honors as a placekicker.

Elkhart’s Justin Wolford also received Honorable Mention All-State honors for his play in the defensive backfield.
