Latexo ISD Extends Superintendent’s Contract

LATEXO –Latexo Independent School District Superintendent Dr. Stacy Easterly’s contract was extended through 2020 following a positive evaluation during a meeting of the Latexo ISD Board of Trustees held on Thursday, Jan. 26.

At the conclusion of a two hour executive session to discuss the superintendent’s evaluation and to consider contract options, the LISD board reconvened in open session to provide their recommendations.

A motion was made by LISD Board Secretary Bobbie Jo Frizzell to “… approve the superintendent’s evaluation as presented.”

The motion was seconded by board member Kelly Nicol and passed unanimously.

Frizzell followed up her first motion with a second motion “… to extend the superintendent’s contract to June 30, 2020.”

The motion was seconded by board member Chris Morris and passed unanimously.

Prior to Easterly’s evaluation and contract extension the LISD board was presented with the district’s financial audit for the 2015-2016 school year.

“This is just an overview of everything and we will cover the details later in the report,” Justin Herbert, with the accounting firm of Weaver and Tidwell, said as he began.

Herbert spent several minutes discussing the major funds of the district before he provided the trustees with the accounting firm’s opi
nion.

The audit findings were unanimously accepted by the board.

Following Herbert’s presentation, the board of trustees unanimously agreed to the election date of May 6 for Positions One and Two.

In other matters brought before the board, the meeting date for March was changed to March 9 and the consent agenda items were approved as presented.
