Lady Bulldogs Move to 2-0 in District 21-3A

CROCKETT – The Crockett Lady Bulldogs moved their district record to 2-0 on Friday, Dec 16 after they defeated the Onalaska Lady Wildcats, 68-31.

The Lady Bulldogs simply wore down the Lady Wildcats in the second and third quarters. By the time the fourth quarter rolled around, the Crockett “D” limited Onalaska to a single basket over the final eight minutes of play.

Crockett jumped ahead in the first quarter by six, behind seven points from Dea’Junique James, a three pointer from Shelby Corry and two each from Katie Holmes and Alinjah McKnight.

The Lady Bobcats only scorer in the period was Cari Wiggins with eight as Crockett led Onalaska 14-8, after one.

With six points from both James and Jada Lockhart, the Lady Bulldogs began to pull away in the second quarter.  McKnight added two and Dea’Veon Farris made one of two from the line to give Crockett a 29-18 lead at halftime.

Onalaska was led by Cheryl Stelck with six points while both Brianna Cougot and Regan Haynes scored two to try and keep the Lady Wildcats in the game.

In the third quarter, the Lady Bulldogs found their range from three point land. Corry hit two from behind as part of her eight points in the third. Anastasia Bolton also dropped in two from downtown for six, James added five and Tynashia McKnight chipped in two as the Lady Bulldogs stretched their lead 50-29 after three periods of play.

The second half was simply not good for the Lady Wildcats. Onalaska saw Stelck score six in the third while Cougot had three and Nikki Smith had two. In the fourth quarter, Cougot was the only Onalaska player to score and she had two to close out the Lady Wildcat scoring in the game.

The Lady Bulldogs were led in the fourth quarter by James and Lockhart with six each. Holmes had three and Corry added two to make the final score 68-31.

The Lady Wildcats were led in scoring by Cheryl Stelck with 12 points. Cari Wiggins had eight and Brianna Cougot netted seven. Regan Haynes and Nikki Smith both scored two.

The Lady Bulldogs were led by Dea’Junique James with 24 points. Shelby Corry had 13 and Jada Lockhart added 12. Anastasia Bolton dropped in six, Katie Holmes had five and Alinjah McKnight scored four. Tynashia McKnight had two and Dea’Veon Farris scored one.
