Billy G. Hunt

Graveside services for Billy G. Hunt, 72 of Palestine, will be held 2:30 PM Sunday, December 18, 2016, at Parker Cemetery, with Rev Freeman Pierce officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.

Mr. Hunt passed away Thursday, December 15, 2016, at Palestine Regional Medical Center. He was born June 21, 1944 in Crockett, to Mary Jane Craig and James Billy Hunt. He loved to play games on the computer and at the kitchen table and cribbage, and Texas Hold Um. He enjoyed watching Family Feud and Westerns, he loved John Wayne, Roy Rodgers, Gene Autry, Jimmy Stewart, and Audie Murphy. Bill served twenty-two and a half years in the United States Navy, he was 100% Disabled Vet. He also retired from the State of Texas after ten years at TDC, Coffield Unit. He loved his family and our dog, Sugar. He has several kids that he, by word of mouth, adopted.

Mr. Hunt was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Jane Watson, father, James Billy Hunt, and step-father Lloyd Watson, grandparents, Lenora Gertrude Lambright Craig and Will Craig, baby brother, James Loren Hunt, and cousin Edsel Ray “Brother” Lively. He is survived by his wife Mavis M. Browning, sons; Lloyd Allen Hunt of Murrieta, CA, Lance Ray Hunt of Lumberton, TX, Trevor Weldon Lathen of Austin, TX, and one step-son Jared Austin Via of Palestine, his nephew, Jayme Craig Watson, whom he loved as a son, Megan Leighann Kitchens and Casey Michelle Perkins, were the daughters he never had, brother Patrick Watson, cousins, he was as close to as sisters; Ruby Nolley of Palestine, Yvonne Powers of Pollock, Lenora Luce of Palestine and Mary Lively of Crockett, five grandchildren; Madison, Ethan, Teagan, Lyndsey & Lance, Jr. and one great grandchild.

Condolence calls will be received from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home Palestine.
