Joyce Christmas
Graveside services for Joyce Christmas age 86, of Elkhart will be held at 1:30 P.M. Sunday at Crawford Cemetery with Rev. Davy Joe Hobson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mrs. Christmas passed Thursday at her beloved home that she and her husband built. She was born August 10, 1930 in Neches, Texas to Selmer Martin and Rosie Mae Fincher Martin. Mrs. Christmas worked as a telephone operator and was employed with Bell Telephone Company, in Palestine, TX.. She was a member of Muse Missionary Baptist Church, she was an avid quilter with her quilting sisters, spent numerous hours feeding her wild birds and tending her garden and flowers.
Mrs. Christmas was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leonard E. Christmas, grandchildren Shallon Carnes and Cody Carnes, brothers Loyd Sonny Martin and Jerry Martin. She is survived by her daughters, Karen Carnes and husband Haskell of Slocum, Sharon Johnston and husband Chuck of Elkhart, and Renee Christmas and husband Gary Tullos of Chandler, grandchildren Taretha Johnston Titsworth, Damon Carnes and Jessica Cawen, seven great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, two sisters, Ray Rains and Martha Bell and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Damon Carnes, John Rains, Scott Bell, Caleb Johnston, and John David Evans.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Saturday at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.
