Apparent Murder, Suicide in Palestine

PALESTINE – Palestine Investigators are looking into what appears to be a murder and suicide on Oct. 29.
Palestine Police Officers responded to a domestic disturbance call at 2310 N. Jackson Street, but were unable to gain response after alerting the residents to their presence.
Given the nature of the call, officer forced entry into the home and found two individuals with gunshot wounds. Micheal and Maryl Matthews, both 41 years old, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Based on the evidence on location and the ongoing investigation, the incident is being investigated as a murder/suicide at this time, according to the Palestine Police Department news release.
Autopsies are expected to begin Oct. 31. The police department encourages anyone with more information to contact them or leave information via the TIP411 service.
