Funeral Services for Richard Derek Ward, age 55 of Palestine, will be Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at 2:00pm in the Rhone Memorial Chapel with Reverend James L. Bass officiating. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, November 3rd at 2:00pm at Prairie Lea Masonic Cemetery in Fentress, Texas with Pastor Janet Hahn officiating.
Mr. Ward passed away Friday, October 28, 2016 at Palestine Regional Medical Center. He was born April 26, 1961 in Huntsville, Texas to Necie Pitts and Richard Dwan Ward. Mr. Ward attended school at Bellair High School, Blinn Junior College and the University of Houston. He was a mechanic and loved to fix things. Mr. Ward had a contagious laugh and loved to make people smile.
Mr. Ward leaves behind his wife Yvonne Linda Ward of Palestine; mother Necie Pitts of Oakwood, Texas; father Richard Dwan Ward and wife Teddy of Houston,Texas; step children Lisa Nicole Brown and husband Charles, Travis Wayne Pratt and wife Melissa; Grandchildren Creek, Landon, Kaysha and Justine; brother, Allen L. Ward; nieces and nephews Paula, Ferris, Serena, Nathan and a good friend Doris Mickens.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, November 1st from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Rhone Funeral Home. In Lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the family at 901 S. Sylvan, Palestine, Texas 75801.
