Palestine Police Department Catches Shooter

Oct. 3 Shooting Resulted in One Fatality

PALESTINE – The Palestine Police Department made an arrest in Monday night’s shooting death in record time.
At approximately 10:30 p.m. Oct. 3, PPD received gunshot calls from the West Point Tap road area. Responding officers found the victim, later identified as Paul Kennedy, 28, of Palestine, lying in his front yard.
During the short investigation, no information was released pending notification of the families involved, but on Oct. 5 PPD investigators found and arrested Lawrence Tatum, Jr. 54, also of Palestine.
Tatum is being held at the Anderson County Jail with a $250,000 bond. Palestine’s Criminal Investigation Division is continuing to work the case and anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to notify the police department.
