Johnnie Faye McKnight

Johnnie Faye McKnight, age 71, of Crockett went to be with her Lord, August 20, 2016. She was born February 16, 1945 in Crockett to parents, John A. O’Neal and Beadia Byrd O’Neal. She was a graduate of Ralph Bunche High School, attended Prairie View A&M and earned her Bachelors of Education from Paul Quinn College. For 31 years she taught in the Crockett Public School District, challenging and changing lives. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was actively involved in the Girl Scouts, Pop Warner Little Scholars, Houston County Share, and the Young at Heart Mission Trips.

She is survived by her daughters, Rita Wallace and husband, Lucious of Crockett, Dana Montgomery of Crockett; brother, John M. O’Neal of Crockett; grandchildren, Derrick L. Mask of Crockett, Shedrick L. Mask and wife, Jakea of Spring, Clarence C. Mask and wife, Tiffany of Crockett, Javonte Mask of Tyler, Keara N. Mask of Crockett; great-grandchild, Jayceon L. Mask of Crockett; special-daughters, Debra Lockhart, Debra Ross Holt and Teresa Creag Masters; special friend, Roberta Mason; four step-children; and a host of family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. McKnight; parents, John and Beadia O’Neal; sister, Nannie O’Neal; and ex-husband, Charles Mask.

Funeral services for Johnnie Faye McKnight were held Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church of Crockett. Interment to follow in the Rocky Mountain Cemetery. The family received friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday evening. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pop Warner Little Scholars, Inc. 117 Briar Lane, Crockett, Texas 75835 or Houston County Share, Inc. 200 S. 6th Street, Crockett, Texas 75835.
