EAST TEXAS – While the vast majority of people enjoyed an extra day off, the girls of the volleyball court were in action over the Labor Day holiday weekend.

The Palestine LadyCats participated in the Brownsboro Tournament and brought homme the Consolation Trophy in the Blue Bracket.

During pool play on Thursday, the LadyCats played three games and went 1-2. Palestine lost to the De Kalb Lady Bears by scores of 24-26 and 21-25. Their second game was against the JV Lady Wildcats from Rains and Palestine took them down in two sets, 25-22 and 25-13. In their third match of the day, the LadyCats took on the Alba-Golden Lady Panthers and lost by a score of 2-1 (25-21, 18-25, 15-25).

Palestine’s season record now stands at 9-14. Following the LadyCats victory over the Lady Indians, Coach Kym Chapa commented, “We have officially won more games than we did last year! YAY! This was a good tournament for us. We learned a lot about our team and improved in all areas. I am very excited about the rest of the season and getting into a mid-season routine.”
