Ruth Ann Freeman

Ruth Ann Freeman, age 76, of Latexo passed away Tuesday August 9, 2016 in Crockett. She was born March 1, 1940 in Lacyville to parents, Hubert and Mildred Shipley. Ruth was a graduate of Latexo High School and retired from the Houston County Tax Assessor Office as a clerk. She was a member of the Latexo Baptist Church and also served as a hospital volunteer for many years. Ruth was also a long time member of the Pilot Club.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Ray Freeman of Latexo; son, John Freeman and wife, Dawn of Arlington; brothers, Buford Shipley of Kilgore and Robert Shipley of Henderson; brother-in-law, Alfred “Sonny” Harris of Trinity; sister-in-law, Odessa Reed of Trinity; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Mildred Williams Shipley; and sisters, Sue Harris and Leona Bailey.

Funeral services for Ruth Ann Freeman were held Sunday August 14, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with Dr. Bill Jones officiating. Visitation was Saturday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Interment to follow in the Latexo Cemetery.
